To Puerto Rico or Bust...

A big leap for Slow Flight as we sailed the 610 nautical miles from Rum Cay to Puerto Rico.

A perfect weather window arrived Sunday morning. We packed up the boat, filled her with as much fuel as she could carry, waved goodbye to our friends in Rum Cay and headed out into the Atlantic, south east to our next destination.
Fair winds followed us as 'Slowey' was on her first down wind sail of the trip. Those of us who doubted her need for speed were again proved wrong as we rocketed towards Puerto Rico with speeds of over 6 knots, (for those of you who are not sailors, that's fast for our little boat!!!).

After our fantastic dinner the previous night, our taste buds were tingling for more. We cast out the fishing line hoping for a nibble. It wasn't long before we were reeling in our very own Wahoo. An exciting moment for the crew as this was 'Slowys' first successful fish. Freyja did the deed humanely with vodka (after Pippa gave it a vodka shower in an excited attempt to kill it). It was then handed over to Pippa who hung, strung and gutted on the foredeck. Fish for dinner! A perfect way to start a long trip.

Spot the booby...
