We set off today with the main view to get hold of some water and fuel. We made contact with the Marina owner Bobby, who told us the weekly mail boat hadn't shown up yet due to the weather. This meant that fuel was unlikely but very kindly offered us not only water of his own but some fresh veg from his garden.
We hopped into a buggy and headed up to his hilltop island home where we met his lovely girlfriend who offered us cold ice tea and told us tales of life on the Island. She showed us an quirky hand drawn map which bobby had put together to show all of the highlights of the island. From the various wrecks including the first British steam destroyer ship 'Conquerer' to the old salt lakes, Flamingo covered beaches and a cave covered in ancient native Arawak Indian petroglyphs!
After our water cans were full we made our way back to the marina where Bobby showed us how to feed the ravenous sharks. We saw 10ft lemon sharks, Nurse sharks and the lightening fast Bull Sharks fight over Mahi Mahi scraps. We teased them with the bait on the end of rope until they leaped out the water to tear it off us. Pippa nearly lost an arm...... Sort of!
Weather dependant we're off tomorrow. Could be for Puerto Rico, could be for Mexico!?!? (Jake)
Watch this space!!
